Parish BBQ

This is after church on Sunday 13th July. Everyone is invited. Meat and bread will be provided, could people bring salads and puddings? It would be helpful, but not essential, to know how many people were coming! Donations towards cost of meat would be appreciated. It should be a good opportunity to share food and time together and I would be great if as many of us as possible could be there.

Foodbank update June 2014

Foodbank update

The foodbank continues to have a massive impact on people’s lives

and people are amazed by the generosity they receive.

All tins of basic foods are gratefully received by the foodbank and stocks of rice pudding, spaghetti, meat, soup and fruit are running low.

Framework work very closely with the foodbank and have asked for a request to be put out for certain things. If over the next few months you are having a clear out or have spares of cutlery, plates, cups, bedding, or any basic kitchen or living items, they would help people who move out of temporary accommodation to their own properties and have to start from scratch.

Things can be left at the Ashwood Centre.

Many thanks again to all who support the foodbank.

How do we join together in prayer for the transforming mission of God?

How do we join together in prayer for the transforming mission of God?

Grounded and rooted in the missionary God we come to know God’s transforming presence. The Diocesan Prayer and Spirituality Group want to listen around the diocese to discern how they can support people to grow in prayer and our spiritual life together can flourish. They want to know what is happening at the moment and what could be happening in the future.

If you would like to participate in a 10-15 minute survey you can fill it in online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TTH8SQM
or write to or email Nigel Rooms at Jubilee House nigel.rooms@southwell.anglican.org

Pentecost Picnic 8th June 2014

Pentecost Picnic in the Park -

Sunday 8th June is Pentecost Sunday and we are hoping to have a picnic on Portland Park. As usual there will be coffee in the hall after the service and since this is the birth of the church there may well be cake!!!

We will set off around 11.45 which will give us enough time in case we wanted to collect our dog to bring along etc. This is a buggy friendly walk all on the flat. It’s for all ages and abilities and please feel free to invite family and friends, everyone will be very welcome.

Andy is taking his camper van and will load it with cool boxes or heavy stuff. And please, please pray for some nice weather!!
