SITUATIONS VACANT

We currently have two vacancies at St. Thomas’ Church, for a part-time Church Cleaner and for a part-time Church Hall Cleaner. Details of both positions are given below:

CHURCH CLEANER

The Job Holder will be responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the whole Church interior including the entrance porch, nave, chancel, Lady Chapel and vestries. The work includes arranging a timetable for completing all regular tasks on the Church Cleaning Job Sheet over a four-week cycle plus other jobs as necessary to ensure that the building is ready and available for use by all current and future users. The cleaner will also need to ensure that stock levels of cleaning materials are maintained by liaising with other church Officers and Staff as appropriate.

The successful candidate must be trustworthy, reliable, able to plan and organise work without direct supervision, and have a sound understanding of appropriate working methods and Health and Safety procedures when using chemicals and electrical equipment. Knowledge of the procedures for setting out an Anglican church for worship is also desirable.

The rate of pay will be £6.08 per hour paid on a weekly basis to a maximum of 3 hours per week.

CHURCH HALL CLEANER

The Job Holder will be responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the whole Church Hall interior including the entrance area and foyer, cloakroom, toilets, kitchens, reprographics room, parish office, conference room and store-room as well as the main hall. The work includes arranging a timetable for completing all regular tasks on the Church Hall Cleaning Job Sheet, regular jobs to be completed weekly plus other jobs as necessary, to ensure that the building is clean, tidy and ready for use by all current and future users. The cleaner will also need to ensure that stock levels of cleaning materials are maintained by liaising with other church Officers and Staff as appropriate.
